Hello, 2024

I don’t believe in making resolutions because that makes me feel inadequate or that I’m punishing myself. Instead, like Jon Acuff (I’d like to think we’re friends in my head), I like to set yearly goals.

My success rate is probably in the 50% range, but here we are again. A new year, a new set of goals.

As a public relations and communications professional, it’s embarrassing how much I don’t read for fun. For the last several years, my reading has been mainly news digestion, academic, or for work. I need to get better at reading for pleasure so I can write more for pleasure.

Here are my semi-audacious goals for 2024:

1️⃣ Read 20 pages every night

2️⃣ Journal two times per week (written preferably over digital)

3️⃣ Write 200 pages for a second book (in hopes to push me to get over my anxiety of rejection and maybe find a publisher and agent home for another notes book)

4️⃣ Earn my APR with the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA)

I’d like to think to can dedicate some personal time throughout the week for reading and writing. If 2023 taught me anything, I need it.

Do you have #goals for 2024?
